Project manager for Vivian Construction leading the construction of the Te Arai Links exclusive Villas and the Northern Course Clubhouse.

Located on the 18th fairway of The North Course, the four-bedroom Villas at Te Arai Links have been beautifully designed by acclaimed architect John Irving and interiors by Jenni Kayne. Boasting stunning views out to the Pacific Ocean, Little Barrier and Mokohinau Islands, the timeless architecture has been brought to life through a coastal palette of horizontal weathered timber boards, sarked timber ceilings, concrete and stone that sits harmoniously in the surrounding landscape. Each Villa comes lavishly equipped with full kitchen, indoor fireplace, generous living spaces, external firepit and ample outdoor living, as well as each bedroom suite having its own double-vanity bathroom, creating a private retreat for each guest.

Bridgewater Projects for Vivian Construction

Under construction

As the lead project manager for Vivian Construction, the Lake Road Lofts development project was completed at the start of 2024. The eight unique residences dreamt up by Chris Tate Architects, were designed to invite the sought-after Manhattan loft apartment style of living to the shores of New Zealand and to allow residents to experience the joy of living on Auckland’s North Shore in utmost sophistication and comfort. Every detail was considered to combine comfort and sophistication with practical living requirements with thoughtfully-chosen materials and products sourced internationally to ensure the lofts were rich in style, quality and comfort.

The Lofts are currently available to purchase through Ray White.

Bridgewater Projects for Vivian Construction

Completed 2024

Appointed as the Project Manager for all projects at The Northern Club, a prestigious members' club located in central Auckland. Projects included the creation of a new business centre, the refit of the club’s iconic bar as well as the removal of a fire escape (a seemingly simple job that required a street shut down, hi-ab trucks to lower away the steel as well as not being able to damage the historically-protected Ivy plant that enveloped the entire building facade).

This was the sort of place where I was in my element. Having originally been built in 1867, and meticulously updated over the centuries, all works had to be done in a similar fashion that was in keeping with the original look and feel of the club while navigating the building’s historical bones and infrastructure. As such, we had to deal with different architravings on each door, detailed skirting profiles and uneven floors (not to mention archaic plumbing and electrical wiring). The results were stunning however and showcased the true craft of the details and the talented labourers behind them.

Project Manager at Alaska Construction & Interiors

Saint Mary’s Bay, Auckland

Perched on one of New Zealand's more desirable streets, I learnt the true trade of building with care and pride under the watchful eye of builder Stu Macfarlane at 505 Construction.

The project scope was to take a run-of-the-mill backyard that boasted no real attraction and turn it into an al fresco living space that could truly reward its owners, as designed by Geoff Fearon (Fearon Hay Architects).

Owing to a busy market and the company's trust in my ability, I was promoted from hammerhand to Site Foreman to close out the project. With no expense spared or corner cut, the project resulted in a very satisfied homeowner.

Project Manager at Alaska Construction & Interiors

While at Alaska, I was fortunate to run the company’s only true residential job at the time. Despite not being the company's usual bread and butter, the project ignited my passion for residential construction owing to my ability to work with the highest quality finishes, intricate negative detailing, only high-end fittings, and soft classic tones.

With the owners living overseas at the time of construction, the project demanded a high level of communication with the clients, as well as with council staff and consultants in their absence (these tasks are generally reserved for the client-side Project Manager on commercial works in New Zealand). While this job had its fair share of challenges, each time we found a way to achieve what we wanted and to end up with an incredibly happy client living in a beautiful waterfront home.

Site Manager at Alaska Construction & Interiors

A conglomerate of five of New Zealand's largest media companies in one office, spread across two buildings and over three levels. On this project my responsibilities included: taking charge of all computer-based tasks (RFIs / filing / printing and compiling plans), dealing with Health & Safety matters, inducting and overseeing contractors, the co-ordination of deliveries and labour hire, and ensuring the building was built to the detail provided (including sound-proof audio booths).

We delivered an outstanding fit out that hit the trifecta - on brief, on time and within budget. The project went on to win the highly-regarded title of 'best of the best' at the Property Council of New Zealand awards (Article here).

TOPSHOP Flagship Store, Auckland

Site Manager at Alaska Construction & Interiors

The start of my time with Alaska coincided with the inaugural launch of the TOPSHOP and TOPMAN brands in New Zealand. Not only was this an exciting arrival for New Zealand consumers, but also for construction as TOPSHOP occupied one of the premier retail positions on Queen Street in Auckland’s CBD and was renowned globally for its innovative stores. Appointed as the Site Manager - a baptism of fire to learn the in's and out's of commercial fit out work (including knowing to grab dinner in the moment that you manage to steal between meetings and arriving home at 2am after the painters had finished) - I learnt a vast amount alongside the talented team I was working with. A fantastic project was delivered, delighting client and shopper alike, that subsequently saw me take care of any remedial works for the client ongoing.
